Nicholas Hebden  /  RIBA

Founder & Architect

Nick set up Hebden Design Studio in January 2019 as the founding partner.  Nick has a wide range of professional experience having worked internationally as well as in the UK.   Nick's experience extends to high-end residential, commercial, conservation, listed buildings, renovations & large-scale urban master planning.  Nick has a keen interest in sustainable and environmental design having designed Passivhaus's, he also taught for 4 years at the University of Portsmouth specialising in environmental design.   Nick has a proven track record as a Project Manager, having delivered multiple developments from private houses to large scale commercial developments.

Outside of work Nick likes kayaking, swimming and is currently learning to kite surf.

Stuart Large / RIBA

Director & Architect

Qualifying in 2009 Stuart has a wealth of experience in architecture spanning many sectors including education, public buildings, industrial and residential.  Most recently Stuart has immersed himself in sustainable design principles and practices, giving presentations to college students on operational and embodied carbon, carbon footprinting a business and achieving Certified Passivhaus Consultant status.  Stuart is a performance and detail focused pragmatist, and an aspiring geek.  Outside of work Stuart's two children keep him very busy, they are also key motivators for improving the carbon impact of his work, as they will inherit this planet.  Random fact, Stuart worked as a Roadie on the Michael Jackson History tour at Wembley Stadium.

Rachael Hebden  /  MRTPI

Town Planner 

Rachael is a Chartered Town Planner with over 16 years experience spanning both the public and private sectors.  Rachael's experience includes residential and commercial planning in both urban and rural contexts with a focus on high end residential and large-scale urban planning.  Rachael also has a passion for interior design and worked as an interior stylist for Monsoon's homeware division before commencing training as an interior designer.  Rachael has successfully worked on the interiors for a number of projects including grade II listed buildings.

 

Outside of work Rachael likes kayaking, paddle boarding and exploring the South Downs with friends and Rosie & Milo the office dogs!

Lenina Guerrero / ARB

Architect

Lenina is qualified Architect in the UK & Italy, living and working in UK since 2015.  After finishing her architectural studies in Venezuela, she moved to Rome where she completed her master’s degree in History of Architecture and Sustainable Architecture.  Her international work experience includes large-scale and high end residential, educational, and ecclesiastical projects (as well as) restoration and contemporary interventions in historic buildings. 

She loves spending time outdoors with her family and stargazing in the South Downs. 

Carla Feraru / RIBA

Part II Architectural Assistant 

Carla is a Part II Architectural Assistant who joined HDS in 2021. Previously she completed her Part I at The University of Liverpool and consequently gained a wide range of hands-on experience in the residential sector in and around London. She has most recently completed her Part II at the University of Strathclyde with a First class degree, in addition to ranking top of her class in the professional studies course. Her approach to work centres on sustainability and places great value on collaboration and communication within the design team and with clients.    

Outside of work, Carla enjoys playing tennis and volunteers with her local community. She is currently improving her French and learning to play the piano. 

Paulius Vaizgenis / RIBA

Part II Architectural Assistant 

Paulius joined Hebden Design Studio in 2021. Prior to joining, he completed his Master’s degree at the University of East London with his final thesis focusing on the development of the construction system that contemplates seasonality, sustainability, ease of construction, demountability and simple but effective construction detailing to make uplifting architecture. Paulius was awarded the RIBA London Student Award 2021 and shortlisted for the AJ Student Prize 2021: Sustainability award. 

During his professional career, Paulius spent 7 years working as a tradesman in residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. This enabled him to increase his technical knowledge and understand the importance of teamwork amongst all the trades in the project. 

Outside of work Paulius can be found kitesurfing, wakeboarding and cycling. 

Bryony Faulkner  /  RIBA

Part II Architectural Assistant 

Bryony joined the practice at the beginning of 2022, after completing her Master’s in architecture at University West England in Bristol. Originally from Hampshire, Bryony knows and loves the area well and has particular interest in renewing existing buildings while maintaining local characters and has recently undergone training in sustainable retrofitting of heritage buildings. Bryony has a background in fine arts, including achieving awards for art during her schooling, and has experience in designing both new build homes and extensions creating beautiful and practical living spaces. In her spare time, she keeps up with her creative abilities with lino printing, clay sculpting and sketching.

Sarah Tennent, BA (hons), Msc

Studio Administrator 

Sarah is the Studio Administrator and keeps the directors and the team in check. Sarah is a dedicated professional with responsibly to manage the administration and business operations for the company. Sarah has a background in advocacy, policy and editing, originating from her time at university.

Outside of work, Sarah can be found volunteering for Riding for the Disabled and walking her dog Arty.

Office Dogs

Rosie is the fashionably scruffy hipster of the company!   A committed member of the team, Rosie is motivated by food, human interaction and walks...
