This unique project occupies a stunning waterfront location with access to the foreshore. The design was carefully planned to allow the retention of several existing trees and provided the opportunity to create a highly individual contemporary dwelling. The incorporation of a heat pump, solar PV panels and a green roof add environmental credentials to the dwelling. The building includes angular sections, combining flat and shallow mono-pitched roofs. The careful placement of windows and rooflights flood the interior with natural light, while ensuring privacy and minimal impact on neighbouring properties. The contemporary materials palette includes zinc, render, and timber cladding to complement its angular form. The combination of textures and muted colours ensures the dwelling blends seamlessly into the waterfront location offering a tranquil retreat that resonates with nature. The quirky building form was as a result of the tree protection zones for the neighbouring trees, the result is a unique building with picture frame views to Langstone harbour. HDS was commissioned to provide a full turn key service from inception through to hand over.
